For many years I have thought the book The Chalice and the Blade by Riane Eisler should be required high school
reading. We have witnessed in the past weeks the beginning of a shift to
accountability among those who have long believed they have a natural right to
dominate and intimidate half of our society. The cycle of this behavior can be
broken. It takes courage and determination. Power is the tool of insecure
people. Compassion will ultimately rule.
We wouldn’t be here without the
caring, supportive spirit of Michell G. and Carrie S. A salute to these
wonderful women and to our PASD team, Allyson, Amber, Jackie, Kristinä, Leandra,
Michael and me. It’s been a great week!
fascinates me that the Old English word leornian,
meaning to gain knowledge, to think about, goes back to a sense of finding a
track and following it. This comes from the PIE root *leis- (1) “track or furrow.” The related Old English word læst means “sole.” Soles and souls make impressions.
