Or food for cows, it

Delivers, in concentrate,

Doses of power that satiate and

Enable us to

Ruminate.

Homebodies cozy

In winter,

Bears and frogs,

Even prairie dogs,

Rest when there’s little food. The

Nocturnal Common Poorwill,

A small bird of the West, prefers

To negotiate the cold and so,

In a state of torpor, the Sleeping

One remains in its

Nest.

Open wide

Alloy, ally, alas, the

Metal is not brass;

A mercurial band

Led to solid

Gold from silver, filling

A hole in oldies

Mainstream music, I’m told.

The Nod

Imagine the

Nod when the

Spirit sparks

Passion, a fiery dragon

Insisting on action; ideas

Rise fluently in

Ebullient endeavors.

Deny the Nod? Never.

Tender

Dear, favored ones invite

Affection, but sometimes

Require being admired; their

Loveliness  

Is perhaps a reflection of those who

Need to see perfection; or of their own innate

Grace.
