Us. It’s

Never seen, that

Deluge.

One minute

Springing into a speedy

Pace the

Racers dash

In a math paper blur,

Now placing

Their pencils down.

Versatile material

Papyrus and other kinds of pulp

And water

Provide for writing, wrapping,

Even trapping (flies), as well as elegant

Room divides.

Another look

Reach for

Eloquence;

View again

Initial drafts,

Seeking to

Excel in your verbal craft.

Making a rain stick

Squeeze and pinch –

Quite gently –

Until the eighteen

Inches of foil are

Now a silver snake all

Coiled inside a roll;

Hear the shhhh of the rain you control.
