Jagannatha, your

Unstoppable force may

Generate great sadness for

God-fearing Hindus.

Even as they throng in

Rath Yatra, their devotion

Need not long for tragedy.

Any day now, all the

Unseeing will awaken

To their own inherent grace. 

The etymology of ‘juggernaut’ involves an enormous wooden wagon in the image of Lord Krishna (Jagannatha is Sanskrit for ‘lord of the universe’), pulled in procession by hundreds of devotees. Whether voluntarily or not, sometimes people would fall under the wheels and be crushed.
