Norwegians,
during WWII, wore
Emblems
made of birch bark; they
Vowed
not to capitulate, not
Ever,
with this mark. Their clever
Ruse
helped get them through the dark.
While I worked as an au pair in
Norway, I learned that many Norwegians had worn a piece of birch bark on their
coats to signify in a quiet way they would never
bow down to the Third Reich. The Norwegian word for birch bark is “never.”

Good piece!
Very cool! I had no idea about the birch bark or the meaning of the word in Norwegian.
